Meet My Character Blog Tour

Wonderful author Kyra Halland tagged me for her Meet My Character Blog Tour. Today, we’re learning a little about Jordan Amador, my main character in The Black Parade series. The next book, She Who Fights Monsters, drops this Tuesday so let’s get started!

SheWhoFightsMonsters_2front

1) What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?

Jordan Amador. Totally fictional.

2) When and where is the story set?

She Who Fights Monsters is set in 2011, starting out in Albany, New York and then bouncing around several locations as Jordan is chasing a serial killer. She hits Lawrence, Kansas; Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Columbus, Ohio; Ethiopia, Africa, and finally Tromso, Norway.

3) What should we know about him/her?

Jordan has softened up considerably being married to the archangel Michael for around six months, but she’s still a tough cookie with plenty of baggage. She is incredibly determined to do the right thing no matter what and takes it personal if someone hurts the innocent and she could have prevented it. She is at a different point in her life—a time when she actually has a support system and something resembling a life. She wants to preserve it and protect it at all costs, but deep down, she is also a bit scared of this new feeling of happiness and doesn’t trust it.

4) What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life?

Someone has been systematically murdering Seers right before their powers mature. So far, they seem to be ritualistic killings and the murderer leaves no evidence behind. Jordan is increasingly anxious and frustrated by being unable to identify the killer and isn’t sure when her name will pop up on his hit list. Additionally, she is still holding back in her marriage with Michael out of fear that he’ll realize that there is a very prominent dark side to her personality. And if that weren’t enough, there’s the fact that the archdemon Belial turns out to be able to help them hunt down the serial killer, meaning she has to work with the man who murdered her ex-boyfriend in cold blood and is dead-set on turning her into his servant for all eternity.

5) What is the personal goal of the character?

To catch the killer and prevent any more innocent blood from being spilled. She also wants to prove to Michael that she is just as strong and capable as he is and can handle the huge responsibilities that come along with being married to the Commander of Heaven’s Army.

6) Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it?

She Who Fights Monsters is the final title. You can actually read an excerpt from the first chapter on my website and you can add it to your shelf on Goodreads, or enter the giveaway until it ends July 22, 2014.

7) When can we expect the book to be published?

July 22, 2014.

Here’s a little bit about the author who tagged me for the blog tour, if you’re interested.

Kyra Halland has always loved fantasy, and has also always loved a good love story. She combines those two loves in her novels, dark-edged tales of fantasy, heroism, and romance. Kyra lives in southern Arizona. She has a very patient husband, two less-patient cats, and two young adult sons. Besides writing, she enjoys scrapbooking and anime, and she wants to be a crazy cat lady when she grows up.

The fun’s not over yet! I’d like to tag Elizabeth Los next for this blog tour! Go get it, girl.
